Weird thing that happened yesterday

During lunch, yesterday, I read a few page from 3 different book while listening to leadership cds. 2 min after I read my bible (was at Marc 14) the cd started talking about the same part as I just read and followed by “We have to go through though time if we want to be more relate-able with people”.

It’s not the first time I listened to those cds but it’s the first time that I heard it that way.

What are the chances that I pick the bible and read the same part as the guy who talks on the cd?
I say cd but It’s actually a lot of cds, on my ipod, that I listen randomly.

Is it healthy?

Health is the “buzz” words these days and companies out there will go out of their way to make people believe that the products they sell is healthy.

They will play around the labels, make it look like it’s healthy when it’s not. Have you ever seen labels with “Low fat” written in glowing red on the front of the product? When you start reading on the back, you can see that the product has a high amount of sodium (which is also bad for you...)

It’s not a lie to say that a product is low in fat. They just try to put it in a way that will make us only focus on that and forget about the other “truth” that’s not so healthy. Read the labels :)

Kissing

It can be embarrassing to tell our partner that he/she is not a good kisser. I never had any bad comments on my kissing but It could very well be that my partners were too embarrassed to tell me so I did my own research on it to see how I could improve.

After reading a few tips online, the same things seems to come up. The before part is as important than the kissing itself. Looking good, smelling good, eye contact that says “I want you” are all important part of the pre-kissing stage.
The pre-kissing stage greatly affect how both party perceive the kiss.

I haven’t come across an article that explained how to place your lips or anything of the sort. They gave advice on what to do prior and what to do with your hands or your overall posture while you kiss. Some also said that eating ice cream, or a lemon, prior can give a nice feeling to the partner (something that I definitely want to try).

Doing is learning! It takes practice so go out there and practice! If you find, or know, something interesting please share! :)

Aging

I used to think that adulthood was a completely different world but as I grow more into it, I realize that they’re just older kids. The body, for most people, is the only thing that change.

“When you’re young you learn. When you’re older you understand.” -Unknown

Nothing really change. They drink the same beer, have the same fears and, for most of them, still afraid to take responsibility for their lives. I heard a 30 year old say “It’s not my fault, he did it!”. My 12 year old cousin said the exact same thing!

The brain is like a muscle. If it’s not faced with new challenges, it won’t grow in thinking. Most stop learning after they’re done with school and they will keep the same philosophy for the rest of their lives.

Weak times - Relationship

Ever had times where you’re doing things and you’re like “Why did I do that? It sounds so needy and desperate”.

Time is often the best medicine to fix relationship issues. I’m having a hard time to let people, I care about, go when that’s all they want. I find myself looking at my phone waiting anxiously for a text from that person or writing one and telling myself “Wow, that was lame” just after I sent it.

I feel immature about it, I know it’s not the way to go, I think it’s due to my focus not being in the right places. It makes me come across as needy.

My recent Self Analysis

There will be times where you’ll be asking a lot of questions about yourself. For me, those times happen during struggles.

With the help of TEAM cds, I was able to spot a few blind spots/things i need to work on. Bellow is the list I came up with and a short description of what it’s about:

Better faith: During tough time, I always remember that this is a test that I have to go through. I want to study the bible more. I believe it holds the key that will help me become a better person

Grooming/Taking care of myself: I look like a bum most of the time. I find shaving irritating and itchy so I wasn’t doing it often. I started using a aftershave which helped a bit in that area. Also started to go to the gym more often.

Dress better: I’ve been told, countless times, that I have no style. That I dress with old clothes that doesn’t match. I never really paid attention to what I was wearing. A part of my income tax money will be invested in this area to help me look better.

Diversified activities: I need to broader my horizon by trying new things and it starts by saying “yes” to the new and “no” to the old. There’s already things in the work regarding this. Rock climbing, massage, boat ride, kayaking, visiting Grand Falls … (just to name a few, more coming soon! :)

Diversified studies: Leadership/Relationships/Business/Finances/Fitness are all interesting subjects but they’re not the only ones out there. I want to broader my areas of studies. I want to learn more about martial arts, psychology, philosophy, biology, science … you name it!

Work on the business: I love my job but not enough to do it for 40 hours a week. I want my time back to be able to focus on the areas, mentioned above, more.

So far, that’s what I came up with. I’m still trying to find things that I can work on. I already changed a few things and it’s just a matter of time before I change more. What are you working on?

It’s okay for people to be wrong

Respect a person’s right to be wrong. I used to correct people all the time over things, I would see, that they do wrong. What I found out was that they didn’t like me more for it.

How do you feel when someone tells you you’re wrong? Don’t you feel like you want to defend your position sometimes? This creates arguments.

What I do now, if it’s not something that will kill the person, I just let that person express the idea without my input unless I'm asked to. Based on this, I can refer them to a book or information that may help them be right without actually me giving my input.

Some people don’t mind being told they’re wrong but they still need to be approached the right way. “You’re so stupid, can’t believe you didn’t figure this out” may not be the right approach.

If you know you’re right, let time prove to them that you are.

Study & Activity - The yin and yang of growth

I like to use the example of a recipe book. If you read a recipe and never apply or try the recipe, what was the point of learning it? If you want to make a cake but never learn “how to”, how will that work for you?

If we follow this logic, we can see that not only both are important, study come first.

It’s possible to start with activity but the first few months are still considered study. If you want to make a cake, without first reading the recipe, you will figure it out through trial and errors. It will take longer and that “trial and error” process is the study part.

We learn from studying and we understand from activity.

Money problems is distracting

Money is the cause of many problems. More often than not it’s the lack of it that’s the problem. It’s hard to focus on anything else when you have debts and society is specifically design to encourage debt.

The debtor is in control of the debtee. At any time, the debtor can go to the debtee house and take what he owns.
With that in mind, how can someone in debt think about anything else but money?

Investing - Not rocket surgery

I’m not talking about “RSP” or “Retirement plans” I’m talking about investment that makes big money.
If a man made it, then it’s not that complicated. You just have to learn it.

The first step would be to read books that talks about it and already it will make some people run away. Learning how to invest won’t come with time, there’s research that needs to be done in order to learn it.

I’m sure there’s a “How to invest for dummies”, maybe that would be a good start. Any thoughts?

Original Content

Looks like I don’t have 300 blogs anymore. I went through all my blog and removed the ones that were just “copy/paste” from books. Moving forward, It will be an interpretation of what I read instead of being what I read.

If you browse through my blog and find some that aren't mine (either took from another article online or just wrote word for word from a book), let me know so I can remove them.

Life with Hope

I see some people living like they’re already dead. A life with no hope is not a life at all. If there’s no hope for a better tomorrow than why would you be anxious to get there? Life is suffering in the absence of hope.

Hope comes from within and it’s unleashed when it’s act upon. If you wish for a better tomorrow than do something today that will make it so.

Fight is over - Relationships

In a relationship, the fight is over when 1, of the 2, stops fighting to focus on moving on. There’s sign that the end will happen and it’s during those painful moments that one should focus on fixing the situation.

Who ever takes responsibility for it is considered the “fighter” and the person who let it dies is, more than likely, the person who will end it.

“Some wives are so busy making better husbands that they make really bad wives.”-Terry Brady

There’s no way around it. If the focus is to change the other person, the relationship will end. Either the “victim” will get tired of it or the “bully” will see all the wrong and get tired of trying to change the other person. The “victim” may also feel like he’s stuck and will stay with the bully because of fear.

It’s not your spouse’s responsibility to make you happy. True happiness comes from your faith and from fixing the wrong you see in yourself. Making you happy is too much of a responsibility for someone else to take care of it. If the other person loves you, he will try to make you happy anyway but there will be time where it won’t work.

Loosing is simply not fun. Keep on fighting until the relationship works. Until you win.

Owning a business doesn’t give you people skills

Late experience as shown me that it’s possible to be the owner of a multi million dollar business and have no clue how to interact with people.
If going out there to promote your business to people (and meeting a lot of people in the process) doesn’t give you better people skills then what does?

There comes a point where one must sit down and study people. I believe that the sooner it is, the better for the company in the long run. It’s a lifelong journey.

Gym - Rules gives you average results

Average is the majority of people. If the majority of people follow the rules then the rules gives, the majority of people, average results. If you want better result, go beyond the rules. Do more.

I’ve been told by countless people to do 3 sets/ 10 reps / X weight if I want bigger muscles. After the work-out, I always felt like I could do more even if the muscle felt exhausted at the time of the sets.

I’ve been talking about that to my mentor and he said that if you don’t feel sore a bit, the day after the workout, you’re not getting bigger/stronger.
I’m not getting this from “following the rules” so I decided to do more sets with different kinds of exercises for each muscle.

It’s more of listening to your body than following the rules.

I now see these rules as a minimum requirement and not a set of rules to “get stronger”. When I’m done with my work-out, I really can’t do any more.

Doing what I say

I lost the amount of time I told someone I was going to do something and I ended up not doing it. Sometimes it’s because I forget, other time I just didn’t feel like it anymore.

This is something that I have to fix. Not doing what I say is a character issue, it’s lying to someone else and myself.

BlockBuster - The old can’t compete with the new

When was the last time you rented a video in a blockbuster? It’s no surprise that this is a business that will soon be gone.

They played with the old rules too long. Companies, such as Netflix, adapted the rental business to the digital world and are winning the rental race because of it.

This is the K-mart story all over again. Some of you may remember K-mart, it used to be bigger than Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart’s idea was better and before K-mart could adapt to it, they got ran over.

Due to the information age, the biggest of business can go bankrupt to the smallest business. It’s who ever as the biggest idea that will win and the idea, more often than not, needs to be connected to the biggest thing used by the community which is the Internet and ,more recently, facebook.

Repeated Mistakes

“Lesson are repeated until they are learned.”-Unknown

The above becomes more evident with age. Things seems to work in cycles. They may happen with different people or in different situations but there will be times where you’ll tell yourself “Hey, i’ve been here before”.

The problem I have with that is I know how it ends but I don’t know what and when I did wrong. It feels a bit like I would snap out of a dream and come back to earth. Like I was asleep all that time and suddenly woke up to see the end happening again.

I think I’m not aware of life enough yet. If I would fully realize how short life is, maybe I would put forth more effort to do different things to change the end result in order to minimize the “I’ve been here” before feeling.

I see my body age, I’m aware that I’m here for a limited amount of time but my head thinks that it’s still 12 years old. I waste a lot of time on things that don’t matter and don’t change which is probably why I do the same mistakes again.

Cadets Competition - Weird Medal System

I went to a cadet drill and band competition this week-end and it was really interesting to see all those people doing their best to win.

I didn’t really like the “medal” system they used though. There was the regular “Gold/Silver/Bronze” category but you could also win a “Silver” medal without being second place.

What they used was a point system. If you were within a certain range, you get medal “X”. That system does allow everyone to have a medal but it kind of remove the real worth of having one. If you’re not good enough, you shouldn’t win anything.

A true lost is always better than a false victory.

April Fools - A vacation for pranksters

Pranksters, like me, take April fools’s day off. Why? Why would I prank on a day that everyone expect to be pranked on?

Sure, I could make you believe that it’s the zombie apocalypse but even if it was, you wouldn’t believe me because of the day we’re in.
